against Iraqi vice president
for An arrest warrant has been issued against the
Iraqi Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi late Saturday for
being the mastermind behind the recent bombing targeting the
parliament, spokesman of Baghdad police operations said.
Key Iraqi Bloc Plans to Bolt Parliament
Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki is asking
lawmakers to withdraw confidence from his deputy after Saleh
al-Mutlaq made controversial comments this week over
American forces withdrawing from Iraq, state media reported
late Saturday. In a recent interview with CNN, al-Mutlaq
accused al-Maliki of amassing dictatorial power. "There will
be a day whereby the Americans will realize that they were
deceived by al-Maliki ... and they will regret that," said
al-Mutlaq, a leader within Iraqiya movement.
Iraq's Maliki urges Kurds to hand over VP Nouri al-Maliki,
Iraq's prime minister, has called on authorities in the
autonomous Kurdish region to hand over Tariq al-Hashimi, the
country's vice president who is wanted on allegations of
running a death squad. "We call for the government of the
Kurdistan region to take its responsibility and hand over
Hashimi to the justice system," Maliki told a news
conference in Baghdad on Wednesday. "We do not accept any
interference in Iraqi justice."
Iraqi Sunnis Flee Mixed Neighborhoods
Exact figures are impossible to come by but the
reports
suggest a growing number of Sunnis living in Shi’ite
neighborhoods around metro Baghdad are putting their
homes up for sale, and real estate agencies in Sunni
neighborhoods are booming as the fleeing residents hope for
safety in religiously segregated neighborhood
